We are partnering with a leading Australian university to recruit a Research Ethics Officer / Coordinator to join a high-performing ethics team on a temporary basis, with the potential for extension or longer-term opportunity.

- Full-time role, flexible hours.
- 2 days from office (Inner City) and 3 days from home.
This position is flexible in level and can be tailored to suit candidates with varying experience, offering the opportunity to step into either a more senior or developing role within a complex and fast-paced research environment.

About the Role You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of human research ethics processes, working closely with ethics committees, researchers, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant ethical standards, legislation, and institutional policies.
Role Responsibilities
- Undertake ethics application triage, assessment, and review
- Coordinate committee operations, providing end-to-end administrative and governance support
- Manage approvals, ratifications, and associated workflow processes
- Oversee a high-volume shared ethics inbox, ensuring timely and accurate responses
- Attend committee meetings and provide governance and secretariat support
- Prepare and coordinate meeting agendas, papers, and supporting materials
- Accurately capture and document committee decisions, actions, and outcomes
- Draft and/or review detailed committee minutes for executive review
- Maintain high-quality governance documentation in line with compliance and regulatory standards
- Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all records, correspondence, and reporting outputs
- Demonstrated experience in human research ethics (essential)
- Experience within a university, health, or similarly regulated environment highly regarded
- Strong understanding of ethical frameworks, legislation, and compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in sensitive or technical contexts
- High attention to detail with strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Confident engaging with a range of stakeholders and translating complex information into clear guidance
