Asthma Australia, the national peak body for people with asthma, has set a goal to halve preventable hospital admissions due to asthma by 2030. The vast majority of asthma-related hospitalisations, up to 90 per cent, can be avoided with timely, high-quality primary health care and stronger community-based prevention.
To advance this goal, Asthma Australia delivers education and support for people with asthma, their families and carers, schools and health professionals. The organisation also advocates for system-wide reforms to improve access to care, optimise treatment pathways and reduce inequities, particularly for children and young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse populations and people living in rural and remote areas.
Asthma Australia’s work is grounded in evidence and informed by the lived experience of people with asthma, driving improvements across the health system and delivering better outcomes for Australians. Their programs reflect a commitment to outcomes-focused, equity-driven reform, integrating community insight with clinical expertise to strengthen person-centred asthma care.
