About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and working alongside the CEO and Executive, the Philanthropy Group Manager will lead a high-performing team to deliver and grow a philanthropic revenue stream currently generating over $40M annually.
This senior leadership role oversees all aspects of philanthropy, focussed on transformational partnerships, corporate philanthropy, major donors and trusts & foundations. You’ll play a pivotal role in deepening high-value relationships and securing multi-million-dollar transformational gifts that power The Smith Family’s critical education programs.
You are a strategic, values-aligned philanthropy leader with deep experience managing major supporters, high-performing teams, and significant revenue growth. You bring energy, professionalism and a commercial mindset to partnership development—and are inspired by purpose-led work that changes lives.
Whether from a not-for-profit, higher education, health, arts or corporate background, you are energised by driving growth, building long-term partnerships, and leading empowered teams.
You understand the Australian fundraising and giving landscape, especially corporates and major donors. You’re equally strategic and relational, a credible peer to senior stakeholders, with a confident and collaborative communication style.

- Work closely with the CEO, executive Team and Board to cultivate and steward strategic relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporates, foundations, and key influencers
- Sit on the Fundraising Leadership Team
- Lead and grow a philanthropy program currently raising in excess of $35M + annually
- Secure multi-million dollar transformational gifts that fuel educational equity across the country
- Oversee the strategic direction of the philanthropy team, driving innovation, performance and a supporter-centric culture
- Coach and support a high-performing team of 35, including five senior direct reports across key fundraising pillars
- Represent The Smith Family externally in sector, board and donor settings

You will bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience in philanthropy, corporate partnerships or major giving
- A proven track record managing significant revenue targets, securing and stewarding 6–7 figure philanthropic partnerships
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams at scale
- High-level stakeholder engagement skills with boards, executives and major donors
- Strategic thinking, budget and portfolio oversight, and data-driven decision making, coupled with a deeply relational approach
- A commitment to collaboration and integrity, and alignment with the values and mission of The Smith Family.
- Inherit a high-performing, motivated philanthropy team with a portfolio that is delivering significant income – with further growth potential
