The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland and Northern Territory (IPWEAโQNT) is the peak membership body representing engineers and related professionals working in public works.
IPWEAโQNT’s purpose is to enhance the quality of life for communities by advancing the skills, knowledge, and resources of those involved in the planning, delivery, and management of public works and services across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
About the role:
As Manager, Finance and Corporate Services
, you will provide endโtoโend financial oversight while ensuring that corporate systems, processes, and controls support a growing, purposeโdriven organisation. This is a handsโon leadership role suited to an innovative finance professional who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, and confident providing trusted advice to the CEO and Board.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have responsibility for financial management, corporate services, systems governance, and compliance across IPWEAโQNT, including the Queensland Water Directorate business unit.
Key responsibilities:
Finance and governance
- Endโtoโend financial management, including AP and AR, payroll, superannuation, cashflow, banking, reconciliations, and BAS and PAYG reporting.
- Financial leadership covering budgeting, forecasting, Board and CEO reporting, annual audit management, and financial and operational risk analysis.
- Oversight of governance, compliance, and risk, including ASIC and ACNC filings, insurance management, and broader organisational compliance.
- Overall responsibility for corporate systems, including iMIS and financial platforms, and management of external vendors.
- Ensuring systems are secure, fitโforโpurpose, and well utilised, while identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Oversight of HR administration, WHS, office operations, and corporate compliance
- Development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Driving enhancements to systems, processes, and reporting to strengthen decisionโmaking capability.
- Supporting the organisation as it evolves to meet the needs of members and the sector.

- Qualifications in accounting, with experience in senior financial management.
- Experience within a membershipโbased, notโforโprofit, or similar organisation.
- Proven capability overseeing corporate systems and working with external IT service providers.
- Handsโon, adaptable, and improvementโfocused, comfortable driving change in a small association environment.
- Futureโfocused and techโcurious, open to automation and AI solutions with a practical and balanced approach to risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly.
- Wellโdeveloped analytical and problemโsolving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a small, collaborative team.
- Experience with iMIS Association Management Software and advanced proficiency in Xero.
- Understanding of the public infrastructure and local government sector.
- CPA qualification.
