Support helps early-stage and emerging research projects that often struggle to attract funding through traditional channels. This means supporters play a direct role in helping promising ideas become life-changing medical breakthroughs.

Working alongside leading researchers at Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Sydney, Heart Research Australia funds emerging and established researchers, PhD students and vital equipment grants that advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
  
Help shape the future of heart research 

This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to shape and grow Heart Research Australia's major donor program at an exciting stage of development. Working closely with the Philanthropy Manager and CEO, you will build meaningful relationships with major donors and high-net-worth individuals whose support can directly accelerate groundbreaking heart research .

You will also play a key role in developing a Grateful Patient Program , connecting with cardiologists and patients to inspire ongoing connection and support of Heart Research Australia. This is an opportunity to see the direct impact of your work and help transform promising research into real outcomes for patients and families.

This is a part time, 3 day a week role, with flexible working days and hybrid working arrangement.

 
How you'll make a difference
  • Deliver the major gifts strategy

  • Build, manage and grow a pipeline of major donors through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship

  • Create tailored donor engagement and stewardship plans that encourage long-term support

  • Lead the development of a Grateful Patient Program in partnership with cardiologists and healthcare stakeholders

  • Prepare compelling donor communications , proposals, cases for support and impact reports

  • Track donor activity , pipeline performance and fundraising outcomes through the CRM
You’re the perfect person if you are

An experienced relationship fundraiser who enjoys connecting people with causes that matter. You know how to build trust, uncover philanthropic interests and create meaningful opportunities for donors to make an impact.
To be successful, you will bring:
  • Experience in Major Gifts / Philanthropy

  • A proven track record of securing philanthropic support

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage donors, clinicians and researchers

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including developing proposals and cases for support

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a small team environment

  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of donor relationships

  • Experience using donor databases or CRM systems

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practice and donor stewardship

  • A genuine interest in healthcare, medical research or community impact
