About the Organisation

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is a global leader in fundamental biomedical research and its translation. Our mission is to make discoveries that will improve health for all.

The fundraising and marketing arm of the Institute, the Garvan Research Foundation is tasked with raising awareness and vital funds from individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate and community groups.

Our philanthropic income has grown to $57 million in 2024 – approximately half of the Institute’s total income. The remarkable success of our fundraising activities is having a catalytic impact on our researchers’ ability to make scientific contributions that will ultimately lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and prevention or cure of a range of diseases.
