About the organisation:
The Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS) is the peak professional body representing medical and clinical scientists in all disciplines of medical laboratory science working throughout Australia. AIMS focus is on providing advocacy, events, professional development, continuing education, and opportunities for research and innovation for its members.

About the role:
As the Finance Officer, you will be responsible for the organisation’s day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation. You will ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and effective financial systems that support the delivery of high-quality services to members nationwide.

To be successful you will have:
  • Experience in a similar Finance Officer or accounting support role
  • Strong working knowledge of MYOB, payroll processing and reconciliations
  • Understanding of BAS, PAYG and general compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including AP, AR, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, BAS, PAYG and statutory compliance
  • Process payroll, superannuation, and maintain employee financial records
  • Produce monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow reports
  • Reconcile payments from membership, assessment and other National office activities
  • Preparation of annual audit statements and end-of-year reporting
  • Provide financial reporting and reconciliation support to Executive, Branches and Divisions
