About GI Cancer Trials
GI Cancer Trials (formerly Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group & GI Cancer Institute) is the peak national gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer research organisation in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. GI Cancer Trials is a not-for-profit organisation that raises funds for and conducts collaborative, investigator-led, multidisciplinary and multinational clinical trials and related translational research, investigating new treatments for GI cancers.

About the role
Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Manager is a key position within the team, required to manage the day-to-day financial affairs of the organisation.
- Financial reporting, including reports for management and Board.
- Cash flow reporting as well as P & L analysis.
- Oversight of invested funds.
- Reporting and analysis for Fundraising team.
- Develop, maintain and support strategic planning in financial management and support with development of budgets and financial planning, as well as budget review and monitoring.
- Assist with coordination and reporting to Finance Committee and other Committees.
- Responding to financial queries in a timely manner.
- Oversight of Financial Assistant and data entry, transactions and reconciliations within Xero.
- Accounts receivable, and payable management.
- Maintain payroll and leave records.
- Support for CEO and management team as needed and work closely with an external accountant and various stakeholders to ensure all financial matters are managed correctly.
Essential Knowledge Skills, Education and Experience:
We are looking for an experienced financial professional to join the team to enable the organisation to continue the incredible work they do.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting and CA or CPA.
- Previous experience in a similar role, including experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- Able to work in a small team environment.
- Experience within a finance position in a NFP, medical or research environment will be highly regarded.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability and confidence to liaise with staff and stakeholders of all levels
- Sound knowledge of accounting software (Xero desirable) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organised with initiative and flexible approach to work.
