General Surgeons Australia (GSA) is a non-profit, fellowship-based organisation. The key function of GSA is to enable the delivery of high quality, comprehensive Specialist General Surgical services, including both emergency and planned care, to the Australian community. GSA achieves this through the promotion of specialist training, continuing medical education, research, advocacy, and audit for their members.
About the Role
As Regional Executive Officer (NSW-ACT), you will provide high-level administrative support to the NSW-ACT Regional Training Committee (NSWTC) for the Australian Board in General Surgery. Working closely with medical professionals, hospitals, supervisors, and trainees, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-caliber secretariat services, preparing agendas, minutes, reports, and following up on action items
- Ensuring the Chair and members are kept up to date with all policy and procedural issues
- Coordinating the annual interview process for the GSET program in General Surgery
- Facilitating online educational sessions for trainees
- Assisting with hospital accreditation, hospital inspections, and follow-up
- Providing policy guidance and support to supervisors, trainees, and hospital administrators
- Updating training databases (TMS & TIMS) and preparing related reports
- Communicating with stakeholders and addressing inquiries related to training, policy, and process
- Liaising with GSA’s education team and external stakeholders to enable delivery of training programs
- Providing assistance to the Manager - Education & Training and performing other duties as required
To succeed in this role, you will be:
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
- Experience working with boards and committee members is highly regarded
- An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Experienced in administration within a health care, education, or training setting
- Collaborative and adaptable, with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to prepare high-caliber documents and reports under pressure
- Support the delivery of training for the future generation of surgeons
- Engage with a range of stakeholders, from hospital supervisors to policy makers
- Flexible 0.6 FTE role with a competitive salary
