Executive Assistant to the Director, Sydney Centre for Evangelisation

About the Opportunity:
As Executive Assistant (EA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting the mission of the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation (SCE). Reporting to the Director, you will provide high-level executive and secretariat support, ensuring the effective delivery of the Director’s responsibilities across strategic, administrative, and pastoral priorities.
You will manage the Executive Support Officer, oversee office operations, and coordinate key communications and engagements with clergy, parishes, agencies, and ministries of the Church. As a trusted advisor and first point of contact for the Director, you will ensure priorities are managed efficiently, compliance obligations are met, and collaboration is fostered across the Centre and wider Archdiocese.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Church’s mission of evangelisation, requiring professionalism, discretion, and the ability to balance operational detail with strategic vision.

About You:
As the ideal candidate, you will satisfy the following key requirements:
- A comprehensive understanding of the administrative needs of a Diocesan executive;
- Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
- An understanding of the Catholic Church, its mission and the sensitivities and nuances of dealing with various stakeholders;
- An ability to obtain and analyse data, weigh alternative and sometimes competing considerations, and clearly communicate well-formed advice.
- High-level skills in contemporary computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite and social media technologies;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to reprioritise and reorganise competing priorities;
- Highly flexible approach to duties and preparedness to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the SCE and effectively support the Director;
- Capacity to deal sensitively and intelligently with difficult issues;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- A professional manner and presentation;
- A strong commitment to ongoing learning and the development of self, others and the Catholic faith;
- Excellent attention to detail and a well-ordered approach to work;
- Excellent word processing, telephone and diary management skills; and
- Trusted leadership skills, including the ability to lead by example with empathy, delegate effectively, encourage and support team members, and inspire confidence through integrity, consistency, professionalism, and a values-driven approach.
