About the role

Assistance Dogs Australia empowers connection, inclusion and independence for people with a disability through its remarkable dog breeding and training program.

Reporting directly to the General Manager Marketing & Communications, this role is key to leading the delivery of an integrated, multi-channel donor acquisition and growth program . This position focuses on increasing donor lifetime value and building sustainable acquisition campaigns.

This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact 9-month contract at a pivotal point, with clear ownership of donor growth strategy and the scope to deliver measurable results within a defined timeframe.

With one direct report, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end donor lifecycle , shaping acquisition, retention and engagement strategies that strengthen performance and build long-term sustainability.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery . You will be expected to bring clarity, structure and momentum , using data and insight to optimise performance and improve the donor experience.
  
Key responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of an integrated, multi-channel donor acquisition and growth strategy.
  • Develop and implement scalable campaigns to attract, convert, and retain donors across key segments.
  • Drive initiatives that increase donor lifetime value through targeted engagement, stewardship, and retention strategies.
  • Manage the end-to-end donor journey, ensuring a seamless and consistent experience across all touchpoints.
  • Identify and cultivate new donor opportunities
  • Analyse donor data and campaign performance to optimise acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver compelling donor messaging and campaign content.
  • Oversee segmentation and personalisation strategies to improve donor engagement and conversion rates.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising KPIs, including acquisition rates, retention, and revenue growth.
About you

You are an experienced fundraising professional who combines commercial thinking with a genuine commitment to donor experience and ethical practice.
Your experience will include:
  • Minimum 5 years’ managing direct mail programs within the nonprofit sector
  • Proven success delivering acquisition, retention and growth strategies with clear performance accountability
  • Strong capability in analysing data, reporting on KPIs and driving campaign optimisation
  • Experience shaping donor journeys, including onboarding and retention
  • Exposure to high-value giving, bequests or raffle-based fundraising
  • Confidence managing agencies, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
