About the organisation
Bond University is committed to strengthening its connection with alumni, donors and the wider community. The Advancement Team plays a key role in supporting scholarships, alumni relationships and strategic priorities through philanthropy.
You will join a small, collaborative team where each role has clear impact, and where relationship-building is key to support the growth of the University’s philanthropic income sources.

About the role
This is a relationship and events focused fundraising role with a strong emphasis on increased giving. We are seeking a Development Officer, ideally suited to someone with a specialist background in philanthropy.
You will manage a portfolio of donors, with a focus on re-engaging existing supporters and converting new donors. A key part of the role is confidently ‘making the ask’ and building long-term relationships.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and manage a portfolio of mid-tier donors ($2k–$6k giving range)
  • Re-engage alumni and existing donors through proactive outreach
  • Lead coordination of key supporter events, develop invitation lists, coordinate logistics and panel speakers and ensure smooth on-the-day delivery with support from the events team
  • Confidently lead donor conversations and make clear, well-timed fundraising asks
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Bond University at events and networking opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong sponsor and partner relationships
  • Support fundraising appeals, including targeted campaigns and scholarship initiatives
  • Maintain accurate donor records within CRM systems
This role requires someone comfortable being front-facing, representing Bond University and actively driving fundraising outcomes through donor engagement and events.
About you

You will be a confident relationship-builder who is comfortable in social and professional settings and initiating conversations about giving.
We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, with attitude and approach valued alongside experience. Even if you don’t tick all the boxes, please feel welcome to reach out to express your interest.
You will bring:
  • Proven ability to build rapport and network effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Confidence to attend events and represent the organisation in public-facing settings
  • Experience in making asks, or leading ‘sales’ minded conversations to secure outcomes
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to initiate conversations and follow through
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and willingness to take initiative
  • Experience using a CRM (Raiser’s Edge or similar desirable)
Desirable:
  • Experience in higher education or not-for-profit fundraising
  • Exposure to appeals, business development, donor cultivation or event delivery
  • Relevant degree (preferred but not essential)
What’s on offer
  • Salary circa $83,210–$85,707 + 12% super
  • One day per week work from home (team is largely onsite)
  • Access to study benefits after 12 months
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to build a career in philanthropy and advancement
Additional information
  • Occasional out-of-hours attendance for key events
  • The team values initiative, accountability and a proactive mindset
  • Resonance with Bond University’s “Ambition loves Company” brand ethos and culture
