Community  Engagement Manager – National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)

As the Community Engagement Manager , you will play a pivotal role in deepening NBCF’s connection with individuals, supporters, and those directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer. You will lead NBCF’s longโ€‘standing Community Ambassador Program and the development and delivery of a new Brand Ambassador Program. This new program will build a community of influential individuals with an authentic connection to the cause who can help expand awareness of NBCF’s purpose and vision among highly engaged audiences

Working closely with marketing, fundraising and external partners, you’ll create meaningful relationships, manage sensitive stories with care, and design programs that inspire action and connection.

In this role, you will:

Community Ambassador Program

  • Manage and proactively engage with NBCF’s existing national Community Ambassador Program
  • Manage organisation-wide media, content and speaking requests for Community Ambassadors
  • Manage the yearly recruitment of new Community Ambassadors onto the program
  • Select and manage Community Ambassadors for brand video and photo shoots to support content creation requirements
Brand Ambassador Program
  • Define strategic framework, program objectives, impact measures and organisational alignment for the new Brand Ambassador Program
  • Identify, recruit and support inaugural ambassadors
  • Pilot and refine the program, capturing insights and measuring outcomes
  • Create engagement plans covering storytelling, media, content and advocacy opportunities
About you

You’re an empathetic communicator with exceptional relationshipโ€‘building skills and a deep understanding of how lived experience can inform, influence and inspire. You excel at managing multiple projects, navigating sensitive stories with care, and designing engagement programs that balance impact, trust and risk. You thrive in a fastโ€‘paced, collaborative and purposeโ€‘driven environment.

What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, PR, community development, social sciences or similar
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or relationshipโ€‘focused roles
  • Experience designing and managing ambassador, advocacy or community programs endโ€‘toโ€‘end
  • Strong judgement when managing lived experience stories, consent and reputational risk
  • Strong crossโ€‘functional collaboration across marketing, fundraising, media and external partners
  • Experience supporting storytelling, media engagement or content creation
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with a dataโ€‘informed approach
  • Experience in the notโ€‘forโ€‘profit, health, research or purposeโ€‘driven sector
