Suicide Prevention Australia is seeking a Communications Officer to shape and deliver impactful communications that engage its members and the broader sector.
In this role, you’ll develop and implement communications strategies, manage campaigns and digital platforms , and craft high-quality content that amplifies their message and engages new audiences.
You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, supporting key initiatives such as the annual National Suicide Prevention Conference , as well as providing communications support to the membership, advocacy and media, policy and research teams.
This is a dynamic and hands-on role , ideal for a creative communicator who thrives on developing marcomms campaigns and strategies, content creation, and stakeholder engagement .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement multi-channel communications and marketing strategies.
- Create compelling content tailored to diverse audiences, from members to the wider public.
- Lead social media strategy and content planning to grow engagement across channels.
- Manage the SPA website, ensuring it is engaging, accessible, and relevant.
- Deliver eDMs and digital campaigns including monthly member briefs, event alerts, and invitations.
- Support major events and campaigns, including our annual National Conference.
- Collaborate across teams to amplify the work of our members and reinforce SPA’s value proposition.
- Manage internal communications to strengthen workplace culture.
You’re a skilled communicator who brings both creativity and strategy to the table. With strong project management skills , you’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities , collaborating across teams , and bringing fresh ideas to elevate communications.
Your background might include not-for-profit, health, advocacy, or member-based organisations , but above all, you’re passionate about using communications to drive positive impact.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, or related roles
- Strong writing and storytelling skills across multiple channels
- Proven experience developing and delivering communications strategies
- Proficiency with social media platforms, websites, and digital marketing tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills
- Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work independently in a dynamic environment
- Experience briefing and managing external agencies
- Video production or editing skills
