About the role
The Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping how Redkite shows up in the world.
Reporting to the General Manager, Marketing and Communications, this role leads corporate communications, thought leadership and major reports, while managing the PR function for select organisational campaigns.
You will work closely with the CEO, Board, Executive team and senior stakeholders to deliver high quality communications that strengthen Redkite’s reputation, increase brand awareness and position the organisation as a trusted national leader in childhood cancer support.
You will also lead a small specialist team across social and content, ensuring an integrated and strategic approach to PR, content and storytelling.
About you
You are a confident and thoughtful communications professional with strong writing skills and sound judgement.
You are comfortable working with senior leaders, advising on messaging and helping translate complex issues into clear, compelling communication. You enjoy balancing strategy with hands on delivery and know how to spot a good story and bring it to life.
You are collaborative, resilient and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. You bring empathy to your work and understand the responsibility that comes with communicating in a sensitive and purpose led organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Redkite’s corporate communications, thought leadership platform and major reports, aligned to organisational strategy
- Support the CEO, Board, Executive team and subject matter experts with speeches, presentations, briefing notes, key messages and Q&A
- Write and deliver Redkite’s Impact (Annual) Report in consultation with internal stakeholders
- Manage and work with a PR agency to develop and execute PR campaigns across selected Services and Fundraising initiatives
- Identify proactive and opportunistic media opportunities and oversee the development of media materials, including releases and case studies
- Oversee media content on Redkite’s website and ensure strong alignment with brand and organisational positioning
- Deliver regular media monitoring, insights and reporting to senior stakeholders across the organisation
- Lead and manage the social and content team, providing clear direction, coaching and development
- Develop an integrated PR, social and content plan that supports organisational priorities and strengthens Redkite’s reputation
- Degree in Communications or Marketing, with 5 years plus experience in a senior communications role
- Proven experience developing and delivering thought leadership and corporate communications aligned to organisational strategy
- Strong writing experience across speeches, media releases, reports and executive communications
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering PR campaigns and managing external agencies
- Sound understanding of social media and the role of content and storytelling
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with senior leaders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- People leadership experience, with the ability to develop capability and build high performing teams
- Experience in the NFP sector is desirable, as is a strong sense of empathy and care
