Communications Lead

Beaumont People are proud to be partnering with The Smith Family, one of Australia’s most trusted children’s charities, in the search for a talented and driven Communications Lead.

This exciting opportunity is based in Sydney and is perfect for someone who thrives on managing strategic communications projects and collaborating with creative minds to deliver campaigns that matter.

About The Smith Family:
For more than 100 years, The Smith Family has been supporting children experiencing disadvantage to thrive at school, so they can create better futures for themselves. Through evidence-based programs and powerful storytelling, the organisation works hand-in-hand with families, schools, partners, and supporters to break the cycle of poverty through education.

About the Role:
As the Communications Lead, you will play a central role in shaping, developing and managing communications that support The Smith Family’s fundraising and marketing efforts. Acting as the operational linchpin between internal teams and creative partners, you’ll ensure stories, case studies, research and content resources are delivered effectively and in line with brand and messaging standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver communications across fundraising and brand campaigns
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage content sourcing, consent and approvals
  • Develop engaging copy and tailored communications for digital channels and fundraising initiatives
  • Support the creation and maintenance of communications resources, toolkits and workflows
  • Ensure consistent use of brand tone, storytelling frameworks and ethical guidelines
  • Build strong working relationships across marketing, comms, story, research and fundraising teams
  • Liaise with external agencies to manage production timelines and approvals
  • Maintain systems including Digital Asset Management platforms
  • Analyse communications performance and provide insights to improve future initiatives
  • Stay across emerging trends and contribute fresh ideas for communication strategies
  • Foster collaboration and proactive communication across stakeholder groups
About You:
You’re a creative and organised communications professional with a flair for storytelling and a strong eye for detail. Thriving in fast-paced, collaborative environments, you’re comfortable managing multiple priorities and are passionate about using communications to make a genuine social impact.
  • 3+ years’ experience in communications, content or campaign coordination
  • Experience in fundraising or campaign coordination within purpose-driven organisations
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or a related discipline
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Proven experience writing and editing for digital and campaign channels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience working with agencies and content/communications systems
  • A passion for ethical storytelling and purposeful communications
  • A collaborative, proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Why Join The Smith Family?
This is more than a marketing job, it’s a chance to directly support programs that help children succeed in their education. You’ll join a warm, inclusive and mission-driven team that values innovation, collaboration and purpose. You will receive:
  • Hybrid and flexible work arrangements
  • Purpose-led and values-based culture
  • Generous salary packaging benefits
  • Nationally recognised and respected brand
