The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) provides executive leadership across BEST’s operational programs, including Workforce Australia, Inclusive Employment Australia, and Community and Disability Services.
Leading a team of experienced and longโtenured senior leaders, the COO will drive consistent performance and ensure BEST is well positioned for future growth, service diversification and upcoming major contract renewals. The role provides strategic and operational oversight of service delivery, contract performance, financial sustainability, risk and compliance, and people leadership across geographically dispersed teams.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an accomplished executive leader with the credibility and capability to operate across a complex, contractโdriven service environment. They will bring:
- Senior executive or equivalent leadership experience within human services or a related, multiโprogram and governmentโfunded environment
- A strong track record leading large, geographically dispersed teams and experienced senior leaders
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational performance, accountability and continuous improvement
- Sound commercial and strategic judgement, including oversight of budgets, contracts and risk
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information for executive and Board audiences
- Experience within employment services is highly advantageous
