Chief Executive Officer |  Co-Curious

Co-Curious is an innovative not-for-profit screen organisation dedicated to developing bold Australian stories and supporting the next generation of storytellers.

Working across film and television production, talent development, research and advocacy, the organisation creates opportunities for writers and creatives whose voices have historically been under-represented in the screen industry. The organisation is recognised for its distinctive approach to story development, placing writers at the centre of the creative process and creating genuine pathways into sustainable creative careers.
Following the success of feature film Here Out West and a growing slate of productions, industry programs and strategic partnerships, Co-Curious is entering an exciting new phase of growth and impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead Co-Curious through its next stage of organisational and creative development. This is a multifaceted leadership role, responsible for guiding organisational strategy, overseeing productions and programs, securing funding and partnerships, and strengthening the organisation's position within Australia's screen and cultural sectors.

The successful candidate will bring the ability to move comfortably between creative, commercial and stakeholder environments. They will understand how to build momentum around ideas, bring partners together, develop sustainable funding pathways and create opportunities for storytellers and audiences alike.
Most importantly, they will share a genuine belief in the power of Australian stories and the importance of broadening who gets to tell them.

Candidate Profile

Co-Curious is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial and relationship focused leader who can bring together creative vision, commercial acumen and strong stakeholder engagement capability.

The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Senior leadership experience within screen, media, arts, cultural, not-for-profit or related sectors
  • Demonstrated success building strategic partnerships and securing funding
  • Experience leading organisational growth, strategic planning and operational delivery
  • Overseeing film and television projects from development through financing and delivery
  • Strong financial management and governance capability
  • Experience working with Boards and senior stakeholders
  • Leading industry partnerships, advocacy initiatives and audience engagement opportunities
  • The ability to navigate creative, commercial and stakeholder priorities with confidence
Experience within the screen industry will be highly regarded, however candidates from adjacent sectors with transferable leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected and influential organisation at a pivotal stage of its growth. Working closely with a highly engaged Board and an extensive network of industry partners, you will help shape the next chapter of Co-Curious while strengthening its impact across screen production, talent development, research and advocacy.

You will play a key role in ensuring more diverse Australian stories are developed, financed, produced and shared with audiences nationally and internationally.

Co-Curious offers a flexible and purpose driven working environment, alongside the opportunity to work at the forefront of creative and industry development.
