The Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) is the national body that sets and upholds standards for architectural practice in Australia. Working with the State and Territory Architect Registration Boards since 1974, the AACA supports a consistent national pathway to architect registration through accreditation of education programs, assessments, and recognition of Australian and overseas qualifications.
About the role
As an integral part of the AACA, the Assessment Officer will play a key role in supporting the Assessment Managers in assessing the qualifications and professional experience of overseas applicants seeking architect registration in Australia. The role contributes to fair, transparent decisionโmaking, ensures compliance with competency and regulatory standards, and supports the integrity of the national registration pathway through close collaboration with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to enquiries via phone and email, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Liaise with applicants, stakeholders, committee members, and assessors.
- Assess overseas qualifications in architecture for migration and registration purposes.
- Conduct research and analysis of relevant educational and registration systems.
- Manage verification processes and Mutual Recognition Accreditation (MRA) applications.
- Schedule and host assessment interviews.
- Provide secretariat services for senior panels and committees.
- Prepare monthly progress reports on applications.
- Contribute to the improvement of processes and policies that support AACA's mission.
- Maintain updated procedure manuals and ensure compliance with governance and accreditation requirements.
- Assist with administrative support for other AACA programs as needed.

- Enjoy hybrid flexibility, with 3 days in the CBD office and 2 days working from home.
- Qualification or experience in administration and program coordination.
- Strong research and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Selfโmotivated, with the ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in customer service and stakeholder engagement.
- Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethical practice and workplace diversity.
- Experience in a membershipโbased organisation or the architectural sector is highly desirable.
