About Community Options Australia

Community Options Australia (COA) believes every person deserves to feel understood, supported and confident as they navigate their care journey.
Established in 1996 as a not-for-profit, COA has delivered innovative, person-centred care solutions for older people, people with disability, their families and carers for almost 30 years. Today they are a leader in aged care assessments, including the new Single Assessment System. Relationships are the cornerstone of their work, guided by values of integrity, excellence and respect, and a commitment to helping people flourish.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, this newly created role is one of three Executive Lead appointments as COA builds a new Executive Leadership Team. Alongside accountability for financial management, controls and reporting (with day-to-day accounting and payroll supported by an external partner), the heart of the role is business intelligence, utilisation, growth and enterprise risk.

This role offers the opportunity to shape a more forward-looking approach to finance and performance at COA. While maintaining strong financial stewardship, the focus will be on building the insight, data and commercial discipline that allow the organisation to understand its performance today and plan confidently for what comes next. You will strengthen financial and performance reporting, develop greater visibility of demand, utilisation and workforce capacity, and turn operational and financial data into practical insight for the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team. Importantly, you will help COA understand where it can improve performance, strengthen its position within the current contract and pursue sustainable opportunities for future
growth.

The Candidate Profile

COA is seeking a curious, analytical leader who loves data and is energised by what it reveals. The ideal candidate turns numbers into clear insight and recommendations, takes a fit-for-purpose approach to risk, and works as a genuine collaborator alongside the ELT, not off to the side.

The ideal candidate will bring significant senior financial leadership experience across strategy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and controls, together with strength in business intelligence, utilisation or capacity planning within a service delivery environment. Experience managing government-funded contracts, enterprise risk frameworks, and business development or tendering is essential, as is confident use of Salesforce, Power BI and Xero. A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or commerce, with CPA, CA or equivalent membership, is required.

Experience in aged care will be highly regarded; however, candidates from health, disability, community services, consulting or other adjacent sectors are encouraged to apply. Most importantly, the successful candidate will share COA's values and a commitment to the older people at the centre of everything they do.

Candidates may be based anywhere along the eastern seaboard, with flexibility to travel to Sydney as required.
