The Institute of Internal Auditors-Australia (IIA-Australia) is the leading professional body for internal auditing in Australia, representing 3,000 governance, risk and assurance professionals. Operating in Australia since 1952, it is part of a global network of more than 260,000 professionals in over 120 countries under IIA Inc, which sets the profession's standards and leads its certification, education and research worldwide.
About the Role
Reporting to the President and Board, you will lead IIA-Australia's strategy, operations and finances, and act as the profession's primary spokesperson. You will diversify revenue and membership, strengthen governance and represent Australia's interests internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Governance
- Partner with the President and Board to develop, deliver and monitor the strategic plan
- Ensure full compliance with ACNC standards and statutory reporting
- Maintain strong risk management, internal controls and governance frameworks
- Manage the organisation's finances with commercial discipline and transparent reporting
- Oversee operations, technology, legal obligations and core programmes, including professional development, conferences and certification
- Lead a high functioning ELT team, contractors and volunteers
- Continue to build a high performing, values driven culture
- Act as the profession's leading voice with government, regulators, standard setters, boards and executives
- Shape legislative, regulatory and corporate policy in support of professional standards
- Raise the profession's profile through thought leadership, public relations and research
- Strengthen the member value proposition to drive retention, growth and participation
- Build relationships with industry partners and academia
- Represent Australia's interests with global leadership and align with global strategic priorities
- Represent Australia to IIA Inc and the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (ACIIA)
- Contribute actively to the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors, engaging peers across diverse regulatory and business environments
- Proven CEO or senior executive experience in a professional association, member organisation or not for profit
- A track record of advocacy that influences government and industry
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and diverse revenue streams
- Sound knowledge of ACNC governance, director duties and board reporting
- Experience engaging international networks with cultural sensitivity, including across Asia
- An exceptional communicator with political acumen, equally comfortable with strategy and hands on delivery
