As a part of our training here at Beaumont People, we learn how to optimise our LinkedIn profiles to better connect with professionals in our industry. Today I want to share a few tips that I learnt so that I can help others make the most out of their LinkedIn profiles.
Create a Headline that stands-out
Your headline is what appears directly under your name – it's highly visible and searchable. It defaults as your current position, so make sure you edit this to add in some keywords that your current audience use.
Introduce Yourself and Your Work
Make sure your LinkedIn summary is not left blank – your summary is your chance to tell your own story. Don’t just list your skills, take the time to bring those skills to life, share your past experiences and why you love what you do. Videos are excellent for showcasing who you are, you can use testimonials and personal introductions.
Get Endorsements and Recommendations
More specifically, I want to highlight recommendations – an area I need to work on as well. You can request recommendations from your peers and those you have partnered with. This builds your prospects’ confidence and trust in you.
Hone Your Content and Communication
Making your content personable and allowing your passion and values to shine through, just showcases your personality to your network.
Grow Your LinkedIn Network
Connect with past employers, colleagues, mentors, peers and include a link to connect in your email signature.
