Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) is launching two new courses this autumn for professionals looking to broaden their skillsets and accelerate their careers.
This year, FIA has partnered with the Australian Charity Guide to deliver a ‘State of the Nation’ seminar series in every state and territory. These one-day seminars will take non-profit organisational staff through international and domestic NFP trends, best practice techniques and the latest technologies for marketing, fundraising and stewardship.
“These seminars will also offer practical tips to help organisations thrive in an increasingly competitive sector,”
says Katherine Raskob, FIA CEO.
‘Stepping into Fundraising’ is the other new program, a one-day workshop to help corporate workers unleash their inner fundraiser. Created in partnership with recruitment specialists Beaumont People, this seminar will help corporate employees wanting to transition to fundraising to gain an understanding of the Australian sector and the skills required for various fundraising roles. Students will also receive advice on how to tailor their resumes to make their move to fundraising more successful.
FIA offers several other ‘crash courses’ that quickly equip fundraisers with solid, practical skills. There’s a one-day ‘Fundraising Essentials’ seminar for those starting out in the field, while those further down the track can hone in on specialist areas like copywriting or how to create a major gifts program.
FIA has also taken its popular ‘Gifts in Wills Essentials’ course and developed it for online learning so students can take this subject anywhere, anytime.
A more detailed study of fundraising is available for mid-level and senior managers through the FIA Certificate in Professional Fundraising (in class or online) or the 12-month online Diploma in Professional Fundraising.
FIA Revamps Mentoring Program
Do you have people to talk to about your fundraising career? There is nothing like discussing ideas and plans with others to inform your work. You can participate in local FIA networking events or the Institute’s free mentoring program.
The mentoring program has been revamped this year to make it more relevant for today’s fundraisers and provide opportunities for members to become more involved as mentors or mentees. Why not get matched with someone who’s where you want to be in five or 10 years? If you like the idea of lunchtime learning, FIA’s education team offers a free monthly webinar series on a variety of on-trend topics like growing your volunteer base or conducting capital campaigns. The education department even has a library and bookshop with a wealth of books and resources that are available for members to borrow or purchase.
Finally, there’s the pinnacle of the profession – CFRE. FIA makes it possible for you to take the Certified Fund Raising Executive accreditation. This is a personal and professional achievement that sets standards in the sector and is recognised globally. Best of all, you can take part in FIA’s regular CFRE study sessions to ensure you’re on track for this prestigious credential.
