Part Time Communications Executive

Working alongside the Marketing Manager you will drive the implementation of Heart Research Australia’s Communications, PR and digital engagement activities. The role drives communications and public relations activities, delivers marketing materials including eDMs, web and social media content (including video), newsletters and annual reports.

About the Organisation
  
Heart Research Australia is a fundraising organisation focused on providing financial support for innovative heart research projects.  Heart Research Australia supports two Chairs of Cardiology, early career researchers and PhD students in association with the Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Sydney.

Part Time Communications Executive
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the digital communications strategy
  • Create and deliver content across digital platforms
  • Manage and develop the website
  • Responsibility for social media pages
  • Develop a digital presence for community fundraising and events to acquire new supporters and retain existing ones
  • Develop the overall brand and messaging of the organisation
  • Deliver exciting and engaging marketing materials
  • Generate content, editorial, design and other materials including the annual report
  • Design creative briefs for production of print, digital, radio and TV campaigns
  • Develop a database of patient stories to help drive fundraising and communications story telling
  • Develop and implement a PR strategy
  • Advise on, write and edit media releases, opinion articles and other articles and pitch these materials to appropriate media
  • Prepare key spokespeople for interviews
  • Build excellent relationships with stakeholders, supporters etc
Skills & Attributes
  • Experience within digital/marketing/PR
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Ability to develop relationships with the media/stakeholders and gain press/media coverage
  • Proven ability to produce engaging marketing materials and online content
  • Ability to research stories, conduct interviews and prepare articles for publication
  • Experience in website content management systems
  • Strong understanding of social media (particularly page or paid advertising campaign management)
  • A passion for working in a small, dedicated organisation 
  • Desirable - experience working in a not-for-profit environment
  • Desirable - fundraising marketing experience
  • Exceptional communication skills
