About the role

In this key position you will be lead a team of dedicated teachers to inspire excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, high quality academic programs to all students. The Director of Studies responsible for all aspects of the college’s academic management of the school. The DoS will ensure that the organisation complies with regulatory and legislative requirements and relevant policies and procedures.
As the Director of Studies your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality academic programs to all students
  • Oversight of ELICOS curriculum and curriculum development, course reviews and assessment validations
  • Establishing, managing and monitoring standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure the compliance of policies and procedures is in accordance with NEAS and ASQA
  • Ensure accurate academic record-management
  • Oversee the leadership, recruitment and continuous performance development of the academic staff
  • Promote and maintain a positive atmosphere in the college culture, encouraging connection between students, staff and other internal stakeholders
  • Comply with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Ensure the health and welfare of students at all times
The ideal candidate:
  • Proven success in a Director of Studies position or similar role
  • A relevant Bachelor degree and postgraduate qualifications in TESOL
  • A minimum of 5 years ELICOS teaching experience with a preference given to candidates with EAP and/or High School Preparation experience
  • Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing curricula for ELICOS
  • Previous experience of managing Academic Staff within International Education
  • Knowledge of recruiting and developing teaching staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Knowledge of NEAS, ASQA and ACPET and other relevant legislations and regulatory environment
  • Experience managing processes for audits by regulators
  • A strong working knowledge of effective ESL teaching and professional development programs
