Planned Giving Officer

Work for an inspiring not-for-profit organisation who focuses on the delivery of cancer care and research for the benefit of the community. Reporting to the Director of Development you will manage the relationships with new and existing bequestors and qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned gifts.

About the role
You will create and implement innovative activities to drive and grow the bequest program and develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective bequestors, executors and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prospecting of new potential bequestors
  • Initiate bequest discussions and respond to donor inquiries
  • Build relationships with potential bequestors, their families and trustees
  • Develop internal stakeholder relationships with doctors and researchers etc to build on their networks with potential donors
  • Face to face meetings with donors
  • Creation and management of cultivation events
  • Develop written bequest proposals for donors/prospects providing knowledge and information in connection with bequests
  • Represent the Hospital in discussions with donors about the use of their gifts
  • Achieve agreed targets for bequest enquiries, meetings, and acquisition of new donors
  • Liaise with solicitors, trustees and internal stakeholders to ensure timely receipt and acknowledgment of realised bequests
  • Keep the CRM system updated
Skills & Attributes
  • Proven experience in a relationship-focused role
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to initiate contact with prospects and cultivate appropriate relationships across the Hospital
  • Ability to appropriately deal with confidentiality and privacy issues associated with bequests
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to research, formulate and present high-level oral briefings
  • Demonstrated project management skills and proven ability prioritise workload and work consistently within a results-driven environment and to meet deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge/skills with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases
