Job Description

An opportunity for an enthusiastic and diligent Managing Lawyer has become available to join our clients legal team in Melbourne. Starting September 2020.

Our Client:
  
A well established, nation-wide, free and independent mainstream community legal centre providing legal information, advice, representation and referrals, education and systemic advocacy for victims and survivors of child abuse.
This team brings a multidisciplinary model together intake officers, lawyers, social workers and counsellors, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement advisors and financial counsellors to provide trauma-informed, client-centred and culturally safe legal assistance to clients. Services are provided through a national phone line and face-to-face services in key locations, supported by a comprehensive program of outreach and community engagement across Australia.


Role
  
This role provide high quality advice and representation to clients in relation to the legal issues arising from their experience of sexual abuse, including in relation to their redress options.
This role reports directly to the Principal Lawyer and leads a local legal team while working co-operatively with knowmore’s other teams, to ensure clients’ legal and related needs are identified and actioned in an effective and consistent way and all timelines are met.
The role also represent our clients legal practice in internal and external meetings and forums, developing collaborative working relationships with other service providers.
The role will involve intrastate and interstate travel to deliver services to clients on an outreach basis, and to undertake community engagement activities. 
Location & Hours
  
This role is based in Melbourne, with a national focus, regular interstate travel may be required.    
  
This is a Full-Time position.  Fixed Term Contract from September 2020 until 30 June 2021 -  subject to extension upon the renewal of the funding .
