Job Description

Seeking a full-time, temporary Maintenance Worker (Level 4), for a NFP Aged Care home in Footscray, VIC. Paying $40.98/hr + super to start immediately.

Facilities Management:
  • Proactively coordinates the centres day to day property requirement
  • Ensures the buildings and grounds continually meet the TSAAPC business requirements
  • All facility is in a structurally sound, safe and functional state of repair meeting or exceeding all building certification and safety requirements
  • Plan and manage financial requirements associated with facilities management
Property and Maintenance:
  • Actively promotes and manages a high level of property related functionality and safety within the facility. The centre’s overall operational level is enhanced via the high quality of property management and workmanship
  • Actively works towards developing and promoting excellent aesthetic appeal for all stakeholders both buildings, grounds and general environment, including visual, sound and smell
  • As far as possible to ensure the day to day operation of the facility is not impeded by property maintenance matters
Essential Criteria:
  • Demonstrated ability in the effective management and execution of: - time management including complex workloads - building and grounds maintenance, - workplace health & safety - risk and hazard management - financial/budget planning and management - asset/facilities management including tools and equipment - contractor management - document control and management - building compliance and certification - report writing
  • Demonstrated ability to function both independently and as part of a broader team  Demonstrated well developed computer skills including email, database use, Microsoft Word, Excel
  • High level verbal and written communication skills with patience and sensitivity appropriate for aged care resident liaison
  • Demonstrated understanding and proven ability to select and use suitable tools and techniques, including a strong knowledge of electrical power tools and non-electrical manual tools
  • Demonstrate proven ability to effectively carry out maintenance tasks to a professional standard such as painting, gardening, maintaining equipment, repairs
  • Current drivers licence
Desirable Criteria:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the aged care industry, including the application of the Aged Care Accreditation processes, especially Standard 4
  • Understanding of communication systems such as call bells/voice communications systems
