ABOUT THE ROLE

The Conference and Events Manager is responsible for growing the conferences and events throughout the year alongside the internal events of the College including; Formal Dinners, Chancellor’s Dinner, Alumni Events and more. This position is working alongside a secondary Conference and Events Manager.

Main duties and Responsibilities;
  • Work with the Dean to meet targets to increase new business through pro-active business development including but not limited to; creating leads, telesales and pitching
  • Actively sell, promote and coordinate new conference and events business, particularly with new opportunities whilst managing and growing the current business
  • Ensure Terms & Conditions of hire and engagement are appropriate, ensure appropriate Risk Management assessments are complete and all licensing for events is complete
  • Manage the Student Club Functions and the official College events, including Open Days
  • Manage event and supplier relationships including; catering, security, audio, visual and the overall ‘appearance’ of the event including seating, staging and signage
  • Identifying improvements that might be made to conference facilities and work to obtain feedback from conference/event organisers and guests, and address said concerns
  • Manage and maintain the calendar including all client, management, internal and external events and the relevant material needed for each event
  • Provide reports, work in progress updates, training and assistance where required
  • Provide exceptional customer service and help to improve the overall efficiencies of the College Events, act as a supportive and collaborative team member at all times, and be a role model across the college
ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have a passion in Business Development, Relationships and Events. They will be committed to this position and will work collaboratively with the other Conferencing and Events Manager. 
  • Relevant tertiary degree/s in fields including; Marketing, Events Management, Business and/or Communications, or relevant and transferable studies
  • Experience in business development, relationship management, sales or transferable skills would be desirable
  • Proven experience managing conferences and events, particularly within accommodation, experience within hospitality would be desirable
  • Advanced database skills, experience with StarRez is advantageous
  • Relevant experience understanding the use of social media, apps and software relevant to events and stays business
  • A good understanding and demonstrated ability of project management, pitching and speaker management
  • Ability to multi-tasking and prioritise whilst providing excellent customer service
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard core business hours inclusive of evenings and some weekends when necessary
